RESUMO

An iron-catalyzed photochemical sulfinamidation of hydrocarbons with N-sulfinylamines has been developed. The merger of ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) of FeCl3 with hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) process is the key for the generation of alkyl radicals from hydrocarbons, and the resultant alkyl radicals were readily trapped by N-sulfinylamines to produce structurally diverse sulfinamides. Contrary to traditional methods that inevitably use sensitive organometallic reagents and prefunctionalized substrates, our approach features simple operation and the wide availability of starting materials. Gratifyingly, the reaction is scalable, and the obtained sulfinamides can be conveniently converted to highly functionalized sulfur(VI) derivatives.

Deep-seated bacterial infections (DBIs) are stubborn and deeply penetrate tissues. Eliminating deep-seated bacteria and promoting tissue regeneration remain great challenges. Here, a novel radical-containing hydrogel (SFT-B Gel) cross-linked by a chaotropic effect was designed for the sensing of DBIs and near-infrared photothermal therapy (NIR-II PTT). A silk fibroin solution stained with 4,4',4″-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tris(1-methylpyridin-1-ium) (TPT3+) was employed as the backbone, which could be cross-linked by a closo-dodecaborate cluster (B12H122-) through a chaotropic effect to form the SFT-B Gel. More interestingly, the SFT-B Gel exhibited the ability to sense DBIs, which could generate a TPT2+• radical with obvious color changes in the presence of bacteria. The radical-containing SFT-B Gel (SFT-B★ Gel) possessed strong NIR-II absorption and a remarkable photothermal effect, thus demonstrating excellent NIR-II PTT antibacterial activity for the treatment of DBIs. This work provides a new approach for the construction of intelligent hydrogels with unique properties using a chaotropic effect.

Many applications involve the phenomenon of a material absorbing electromagnetic radiation. By exploiting wave interference, the efficiency of absorption can be significantly enhanced. Here, we propose Friedrich-Wintgen bound states in the continuum (F-W BICs) based on borophene metamaterials to realize coherent perfect absorption with a dual-band absorption peak in commercially important communication bands. Metamaterials consist of borophene gratings and a borophene sheet that can simultaneously support a Fabry-Perot plasmon resonance and a guided plasmon mode. The formation and dynamic modulation of the F-W BIC can be achieved by adjusting the width or carrier density of the borophene grating, while the strong coupling leads to the anti-crossover behavior of the absorption spectrum. Due to the weak angular dispersion originating from the intrinsic flat-band characteristic of the deep sub-wavelength periodic structure, the proposed plasmonic system exhibits almost no change in wavelength and absorption at large incident angles (within 70 degrees). In addition, we employ the temporal coupled-mode theory including near- and far-field coupling to obtain strong critical coupling, successfully achieve coherent perfect absorption, and can realize the absorption switch by changing the phase difference between the two coherent beams. Our findings can offer theoretical support for absorber design and all-optical tuning.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficiency and optimal time of stem cell apheresis mobilized by pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony stimulating factor (PEG-rhG-CSF) in autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) for hematological malignancies without monitoring pre-collection CD34+ cells. METHODS: Forty-six patients underwent stem cell mobilization were retrospectively analyzed between August 2017 and January 2022 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University. 27 patients using high dose chemotherapy combined with PEG-rhG-CSF mobilization were enrolled in the PEG-rhG-CSF group, and other 19 patients mobilized with recombinant human granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) were enrolled in G-CSF group. The mobilization and collection effects of the patients in two groups were compared. RESULTS: A total of 46 patients underwent 86 apheresis procedures, the median amount of mononuclear cell (MNC) in the PEG-rhG-CSF group and G-CSF group was 6.54(3.85-12.61)×108/kg and 6.15(1.13-11.58)×108/kg, respectively (P >0.05), the total CD34+ cells of the grafts were 11.44(1.33-65.02)×106/kg and 4.95(0.30-24.02)×106/kg (P < 0.05), with harvest timing of 14(10-20) days and 14(4-22) days, respectively (P >0.05). In the PEG-rhG-CSF group, there was a significant difference between the number of CD34+ cells collected when white blood cells (WBC) ≥10×109/L and WBC<10×109 /L, 19.04(2.85-65.02)×106/kg and 6.22(0.81-34.86)×106/kg, respectively (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Stem cells mobilization with PEG-rhG-CSF was highly efficient with a median mobilization time of 14 days. In the absence of peripheral blood CD34 monitoring, peripheral blood WBC≥10×109/L can be considered as a threshold for a single stem cell apheresis to collect sufficient stem cells.

OBJECTIVE: Subthreshold depression is an essential precursor and risk factor for major depressive disorder, and its accurate identification and timely intervention are important for reducing the prevalence of major depressive disorder. Therefore, we used functional near-infrared spectroscopic imaging (fNIRS) to explore the characteristics of the brain neural activity of college students with subthreshold depression in the verbal fluency task. METHODS: A total of 72 subthreshold depressed college students (SDs) and 67 healthy college students (HCs) were recruited, and all subjects were subjected to a verbal fluency task (VFT) while a 53-channel fNIRS device was used to collect the subjects' cerebral blood oxygenation signals. RESULTS: The results of the independent samples t-test showed that the mean oxyhemoglobin in the right dorsolateral prefrontal (ch34, ch42, ch45) and Broca's area (ch51, ch53) of SDs was lower than that of HCs. The peak oxygenated hemoglobin of SDs was lower in the right dorsolateral prefrontal (ch34) and Broca's area (ch51, ch53).The brain functional connectivity strength was lower than that of HCs. Correlation analysis showed that the left DLPFC and Broca's area were significantly negatively correlated with the depression level. CONCLUSION: SDs showed abnormally low, inadequate levels of brain activation and weak frontotemporal brain functional connectivity. The right DLPFC has a higher sensitivity for the differentiation of depressive symptoms and is suitable as a biomarker for the presence of depressive symptoms. Dysfunction in Broca's area can be used both as a marker of depressive symptoms and as a biomarker, indicating the severity of depressive symptoms.

Herein, a novel ratiometric sensor for fluorimetric and smartphone-assisted visual detection of Al3+ in environmental water was developed based on the target-regulated formation of Eu metal-organic frameworks (Eu MOFs). By employing 2-[4-(2-hydroxyethyl) piperazin-1-yl] ethanesulfonic acid (Hepes), Eu3+ and tetracycline (TC) as raw materials, Eu MOFs with red emission were facilely synthesized through the coordination of Eu3+ with Hepes and TC. However, upon the introduction of Al3+, a higher affinity of TC towards Al3+ resulted in the formation of a TC-Al3+ complex with green fluorescence and inhibited the generation of Eu MOFs. This led to an increase in green fluorescence and a decrease in red fluorescence accompanied by the fluorescence color of the solution changing from red to green under the illumination of the UV lamp. Thus, a ratiometric sensor for fluorimetric and the smartphone-assisted visual detection of Al3+ was established. The ratiometric sensor exhibited high sensitivity for Al3+ detection with a detection limit of 0.14 µM for fluorescence detection and 1.21 µM for visual detection. Additionally, the proposed strategy was successfully applied to detect Al3+ in the environmental water samples with satisfactory results, indicating great application prospects for environmental monitoring.

A novel conversion of 1,5-diynols into sulfonylated benzo[b]fluorenes is reported by a TFA-promoted cascade cyclization with sodium sulfinates under mild conditions. This strategy provides an efficient and practical approach for accessing various sulfonated benzo[b]fluorenes in moderate to excellent yields under metal-free conditions. On the basis of the control experimental results and density functional theory calculations, a possible cascade transformation mechanism consisting of the dehydration of propargylic alcohols, sulfonylation, allenylation, and Schmittel-type cyclization is proposed. It is worth noting that TFA played an important role in this cascade cyclization, which promoted C-SO2R bond cleavage in a propargylic sulfone intermediate to form allenyl sulfones, followed by Schmittel-type cyclization to give the target product.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in high-speed trains (HST) are responsible for consuming approximately 70% of non-operational energy sources, yet they frequently fail to ensure provide adequate thermal comfort for the majority of passengers. Recent advancements in portable wearable sensors have opened up new possibilities for real-time detection of occupant thermal comfort status and timely feedback to the HVAC system. However, since occupant thermal comfort is subjective and cannot be directly measured, it is generally inferred from thermal environment parameters or physiological signals of occupants within the HST compartment. This paper presents a field test conducted to assess the thermal comfort of occupants within HST compartments. Leveraging physiological signals, including skin temperature, galvanic skin reaction, heart rate, and ambient temperature, we propose a Predicted Thermal Comfort (PTC) model for HST cabin occupants and establish an intelligent regulation model for the HVAC system. Nine input factors, comprising physiological signals, individual physiological characteristics, compartment seating, and ambient temperature, were formulated for the PTS model. In order to obtain an efficient and accurate PTC prediction model for HST cabin occupants, we compared the accuracy of different subsets of features trained by Machine Learning (ML) models of Random Forest, Decision Tree, Vector Machine and K-neighbourhood. We divided all the predicted feature values into four subsets, and did hyperparameter optimisation for each ML model. The HST compartment occupant PTC prediction model trained by Random Forest model obtained 90.4% Accuracy (F1 macro = 0.889). Subsequent sensitivity analyses of the best predictive models were then performed using SHapley Additive explanation (SHAP) and data-based sensitivity analysis (DSA) methods. The development of a more accurate and operationally efficient thermal comfort prediction model for HST occupants allows for precise and detailed feedback to the HVAC system. Consequently, the HVAC system can make the most appropriate and effective air supply adjustments, leading to improved satisfaction rates for HST occupant thermal comfort and the avoidance of energy wastage caused by inaccurate and untimely predictive feedback.

Spermatogenesis is critical for insect reproduction and the process is regulated by multiple genes. Glycosyltransferases have been shown to participate in the development of Drosophila melanogaster; however, their role in spermatogenesis is still unclear. In this study, we found that α1,4-galactosyltransferase 1 (α4GT1) was expressed at a significantly higher level in the testis than in the ovary of Drosophila. Importantly, the hatching rate was significantly decreased when α4GT1 RNA interference (RNAi) males were crossed with w1118 females, with only a few mature sperm being present in the seminal vesicle of α4GT1 RNAi flies. Immunofluorescence staining further revealed that the individualization complex (IC) in the testes from α4GT1 RNAi flies was scattered and did not move synchronically, compared with the clustered IC observed in the control flies. Terminal deoxyribonucleotide transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay showed that apoptosis signals in the sperm bundles of α4GT1 RNAi flies were significantly increased. Moreover, the expression of several individualization-related genes, such as Shrub, Obp44a and Hanabi, was significantly decreased, whereas the expression of several apoptosis-related genes, including Dronc and Drice, was significantly increased in the testes of α4GT1 RNAi flies. Together, these results suggest that α4GT1 may play dual roles in Drosophila spermatogenesis by regulating the sperm individualization process and maintaining the survival of sperm bundles.

For a class of 2-D spatial distributed parameter systems (DPSs) with space-dependent diffusivity, this article aims to achieve exponential realization of their desired profiles. To reduce the number of required sensors and actuators, a planar output feedback boundary control strategy is proposed with combining two nonfull-domain measurement methods, boundary collocated measurement and planar linear measurement, in which only two boundaries of the considered 2-D spatial DPSs are controlled and a little output information is measured. Moreover, by employing the Poincaré-Wirtinger inequality and variable substitution dexterously, the final exponential convergence criteria of the error system can be obtained with method of "Diverse treatment for same term." Finally, we provide a general numerical example and an application example in 2-D heat conduction systems to illustrate the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed measurement and control schemes.

Background: Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) provides postoperative analgesia for total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the analgesic effect of a cocktail of ropivacaine, morphine, and Diprospan for TKA. Methods: A total of 100 patients from September 2018 to February 2019 were randomized into 2 groups. Group A (control group, 50 patients) received LIA of ropivacaine alone (80 ml, 0.25% ropivacaine). Group B (LIA group, 50 patients) received an LIA cocktail of ropivacaine, morphine, and Diprospan (80 ml, 0.25% ropivacaine, 0.125 mg/ml morphine, and 62.5 µg/ml compound betamethasone). The primary outcomes were the levels of inflammatory markers C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), pain visual analog scale (VAS) scores, opioid consumption, range of motion (ROM), functional tests, and sleeping quality. The secondary outcomes were adverse events, satisfaction rates, HSS scores, and SF-12 scores. The longest follow-up was 2 years. Results: The two groups showed no differences in terms of characteristics (P > 0.05). Group B had lower resting VAS pain scores (1.54 ± 0.60, 95% CI = 1.37 to 1.70 vs. 2.00 ± 0.63, 95% CI = 2.05 to 2.34) and active VAS pain scores (2.64 ± 0.62, 95% CI = 2.46 to 2.81 vs. 3.16 ± 0.75, 95% CI = 2.95 to 3.36) within 48 h postoperatively than Group A (P < 0.001), while none of the pain differences exceeded the minimal clinically important difference (MCID). Group B had significantly lower CRP levels (59.49 ± 13.01, 95% CI = 55.88 to 63.09 vs. 65.95 ± 14.41, 95% CI = 61.95 to 69.94) and IL-6 levels (44.11 ± 13.67, 95% CI = 40.32 to 47.89 vs. 60.72 ± 15.49, 95% CI = 56.42 to 65.01), lower opioid consumption (7.60 ± 11.10, 95% CI = 4.52 to 10.67 vs. 13.80 ± 14.68, 95% CI = 9.73 to 17.86), better ROM (110.20 ± 10.46, 95% CI = 107.30 to 113.09 vs. 105.30 ± 10.02, 95% CI = 102.52 to 108.07), better sleep quality (3.40 ± 1.03, 95% CI = 3.11 to 3.68 vs. 4.20 ± 1.06, 95% CI = 3.90 to 4.49), and higher satisfaction rates than Group A within 48 h postoperatively (P < 0.05). Adverse events, HSS scores, and SF-12 scores were not significantly different within 2 years postoperatively. Conclusions: A cocktail of ropivacaine, morphine, and Diprospan prolongs the analgesic effect up to 48 h postoperatively. Although the small statistical benefit may not result in MCID, the LIA cocktail still reduces opioid consumption, results in better sleeping quality and faster rehabilitation, and does not increase adverse events. Therefore, cocktails of ropivacaine, morphine, and Diprospan have good application value for pain control in TKA. This trial is registered with ChiCTR1800018372.

To illustrate the surgical technique and explore clinical outcomes of the reconstruction for the malignant and metastatic bone tumour of proximal femur with metallic modular intercalary prosthesis. Sixteen patients who underwent modular intercalary prosthetic reconstruction after tumour resection were included from April 2012 and October 2020. Prosthesis and screws parameters, resected bone length and residual bone length, clinical outcomes and survivorship were analyzed. All patients were followed up for an average of 19 months (range 1-74). In our series, 12 patients died of the progression of the primary disease at the final follow-up. The cumulative survivorship since the treatment of proximal femoral metastasis was 78.6% (11 patients) at 6 months and 38.5% (5 patients) at 1 year. The mean MSTS score was 22.25 ± 4.55 among all patients. There were no cases of loosening or breakage of the prostheses, plates or screws, despite the various measurements of prostheses and residual bones. Modular intercalary prosthetic reconstruction was an effective method for malignant tumour of the proximal femur, including the advantages of providing early pain relief, quickly restoring postoperative function, required a short operation time, and preserving the adjacent joints.

BACKGROUND: This study used bioinformatics combined with statistical methods to identify plasma biomarkers that can predict intracranial aneurysm (IA) rupture and provide a strong theoretical basis for the search for new IA rupture prevention methods. METHODS: We downloaded gene expression profiles in the GSE36791 and GSE122897 datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Data were normalized using the "sva" R package and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using the "limma" R package. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were used for DEG function analysis. Univariate logistic regression analysis, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression modeling, and the support vector machine recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) algorithm were used to identify key biomarker genes. Data from GSE122897 and GSE13353 were extracted to verify our findings. RESULTS: Eight co-DEG mRNAs were identified in the GSE36791 and GSE122897 datasets. Genes associated with inflammatory responses were clustered in the co-DEG mRNAs in IAs. CD6 and C-C chemokine receptor 7 (CCR7) were identified as key genes associated with IA. CD6 and CCR7 were upregulated in patients with IA and their expression levels were positively correlated. There were significant differences in the infiltration of immune cells between IAs and normal vascular wall tissues (p < 0.05). A predictive nomogram was designed using this two-gene signature. Binary transformation of CD6 and CCR7 was performed according to the cut-off value to construct the receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve and showed a strong predictive ability of the CD6-CCR7 gene signature (p < 0.01; area under the curve (AUC): 0.90; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.88-0.92). Furthermore, validation of this two-gene signature using the GSE122897 and GSE13353 datasets proved it to be valuable for clinical application. CONCLUSIONS: The identified two-gene signature (CD6-CCR7) for evaluating the risk of IA rupture demonstrated good clinical application value.

The exploitation of novel wound healing methods with real-time infection sensing and high spatiotemporal precision is highly important for human health. Pt-based metal-organic cycles/cages (MOCs) have been employed as multifunctional antibacterial agents due to their superior Pt-related therapeutic efficiency, various functional subunits and specific geometries. However, how to rationally apply these nanoscale MOCs on the macroscale with controllable therapeutic output is still challenging. Here, a centimeter-scale Pt MOC film was constructed via multistage assembly and subsequently coated on a N,N'-dimethylated dipyridinium thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole (MPT)-stained silk fabric to form a smart wound dressing for bacterial sensing and wound healing. The MPT on silk fabric could be used to monitor wound infection in real-time through the bacteria-mediated reduction of MPT to its radical form via a color change. The MPT radical also exhibited an excellent photothermal effect under 660 nm light irradiation, which could not only be applied for photothermal therapy but also induce the disassembly of the Pt MOC film suprastructure. The highly ordered Pt MOC film suprastructure exhibited high biosafety, while it also showed improved antibacterial efficiency after thermally induced disassembly. In vitro and in vivo studies revealed that the combination of the Pt MOC film and MPT-stained silk can provide real-time information on wound infection for timely treatment through noninvasive techniques. This study paves the way for bacterial sensing and wound healing with centimeter-scale metal-organic materials.

In this paper, we study a time-delayed nonlocal reaction-diffusion model of within-host viral infections. We introduce the basic reproduction number R 0 and show that the infection-free steady state is globally asymptotically stable when R 0 ≤ 1 , while the disease is uniformly persistent when R 0 > 1 . In the case where all coefficients and reaction terms are spatially homogeneous, we obtain an explicit formula of R 0 and the global attractivity of the positive constant steady state. Numerically, we illustrate the analytical results, conduct sensitivity analysis, and investigate the impact of drugs on curtailing the spread of the viruses.

Anxiety is a common psychological disorder associated with other mental disorders, with depression being the most common comorbidity. Few studies have examined the neural mechanisms underlying anxiety after controlling for depression. This study aimed to explore whether there are differences in cortical activation in anxiety patients with different severities whose depression are normal. In the current study, depression levels were normal for 366 subjects-139 healthy subjects, 117 with mild anxiety, and 110 with major anxiety. Using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and a verbal fluency task (VFT) to test subjects' anxiety and depression and cognitive function, respectively. A 53-channel guided near-infrared spectroscopic imaging technology (fNIRS) detected the concentration of oxyhemoglobin (oxy-Hb). Correlation analysis between anxiety severity and oxy-Hb concentration in the brain cortex was performed, as well as ANOVA analysis of oxy-Hb concentration among the three anxiety severity groups. The results showed that anxiety severity was significantly and negatively correlated with oxy-Hb concentrations in the left frontal eye field (lFEF) and in the right dorsolateral prefrontal area (rDLPFC). The oxy-Hb concentration in the lFEF and the rDLPFC were significantly lower in the major anxiety disorder group than that in the control group. This suggests that decreased cortical activity of the lFEF and rDLPFC may be neural markers of anxiety symptoms after controlling for depression. Anxiety symptoms without depression may be result from the dysfunction of the cognitive control network (CCN) which includes the lFEF and rDLPFC.

Demineralized bone matrix (DBM) has been regarded as an ideal bone substitute as a native carrier of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and other growth factors. However, the osteoinductive properties diverse in different DBM products. We speculate that the harvest origin further contributing to variability of BMPs contents in DBM products besides the process technology. In the study, the cortical bone of femur, tibia, humerus, and ulna from a signal donor were prepared and followed demineralizd into DBM products. Proteins in bone martix were extracted using guanidine-HCl and collagenase, respectively, and BMP-2 content was detected by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Variability of BMP-2 content was found in 4 different DBM products. By guanidine-HCl extraction, the average concentration in DBMs harvested from ulna, humerus, tibia, and femur were 0.613 ± 0.053, 0.848 ± 0.051, 3.293 ± 0.268, and 21.763 ± 0.344, respectively (p < 0.05), while using collagenase, the levels were 0.089 ± 0.004, 0.097 ± 0.004, 0.330 ± 0.012, and 1.562 ± 0.008, respectively (p < 0.05). In general, the content of BMP-2 in long bones of Lower limb was higher than that in long bones of upper limb, and GuHCl had remarkably superior extracted efficiency for BMP-2 compared to collagenase. The results suggest that the origin of cortical bones harvested to fabricate DBM products contribute to the variability of native BMP-2 content, while the protein extracted method only changes the measured values of BMP-2.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impaired social interactions, communication deficits and repetitive behaviors. A study of autistic human subjects has identified RFWD2 as a susceptibility gene for autism, and autistic patients have 3 copies of the RFWD2 gene. The role of RFWD2 as an E3 ligase in neuronal functions, and its contribution to the pathophysiology of ASD, remain unknown. We generated RFWD2 knockin mice to model the human autistic condition of high gene dosage of RFWD2. We found that heterozygous knockin (Rfwd2+/-) male mice exhibited the core symptoms of autism. Rfwd2+/- male mice showed deficits in social interaction and communication, increased repetitive and anxiety-like behavior, and spatial memory deficits, whereas Rfwd2+/- female mice showed subtle deficits in social communication and spatial memory but were normal in anxiety-like, repetitive, and social behaviors. These autistic-like behaviors in males were accompanied by a reduction in dendritic spine density and abnormal synaptic function on layer II/III pyramidal neurons in the prelimbic area of the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), as well as decreased expression of synaptic proteins. Impaired social behaviors in Rfwd2+/- male mice were rescued by the expression of ETV5, one of the major substrates of RFWD2, in the mPFC. These findings indicate an important role of RFWD2 in the pathogenesis of autism.

BACKGROUND: The selenomethionine cycle (SeMTC) is a crucial pathway for the metabolism of selenium. The basic bioinformatics and functions of four enzymes involved in the cycle including S-adenosyl-methionine synthase (MAT), SAM-dependent methyltransferase (MTase), S-adenosyl-homocysteine hydrolase (SAHH) and methionine synthase (MTR), have been extensively reported in many eukaryotes. The identification and functional analyses of SeMTC genes/proteins in Cardamine hupingshanensis and their response to selenium stress have not yet been reported. RESULTS: In this study, 45 genes involved in SeMTC were identified in the C. hupingshanensis genome. Phylogenetic analysis showed that seven genes from ChMAT were clustered into four branches, twenty-seven genes from ChCOMT were clustered into two branches, four genes from ChSAHH were clustered into two branches, and seven genes from ChMTR were clustered into three branches. These genes were resided on 16 chromosomes. Gene structure and homologous protein modeling analysis illustrated that proteins in the same family are relatively conserved and have similar functions. Molecular docking showed that the affinity of SeMTC enzymes for selenium metabolites was higher than that for sulfur metabolites. The key active site residues identified for ChMAT were Ala269 and Lys273, while Leu221/231 and Gly207/249 were determined as the crucial residues for ChCOMT. For ChSAHH, the essential active site residues were found to be Asn87, Asp139 and Thr206/207/208/325. Ile204, Ser111/329/377, Asp70/206/254, and His329/332/380 were identified as the critical active site residues for ChMTR. In addition, the results of the expression levels of four enzymes under selenium stress revealed that ChMAT3-1 genes were upregulated approximately 18-fold, ChCOMT9-1 was upregulated approximately 38.7-fold, ChSAHH1-2 was upregulated approximately 11.6-fold, and ChMTR3-2 genes were upregulated approximately 28-fold. These verified that SeMTC enzymes were involved in response to selenium stress to varying degrees. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this research are instrumental for further functional investigation of SeMTC in C. hupingshanensis. This also lays a solid foundation for deeper investigations into the physiological and biochemical mechanisms underlying selenium metabolism in plants.
